Spiritual Curriculum

We put emphasis on the spiritual development of kids. Activities including morning meetings, parable telling, proverb reading, anthem singing, religious gymnastics and pray are conducted every day, to cultivate the qualities of kindness, politeness, respect, self-esteem, and love to God and people.

Inquiry Curriculum

Based on the Spiral Curriculum theory, children’s prior knowledge and experiences, to help children gradually develop levels of deeper understanding of new things. Learning themes related to children's daily life. Teachers design the learning objectives and content according to children's interests, abilities and needs. Inquiry activities include observation by using the senses of sight, hearing, taste, smell and touch; using observation, prediction and comparison to explore and understand things in their environment; expressing findings in language and share thoughts of things discovered, etc.

Free Play

Teachers arrange the classroom environment as a variety play area according to children’s interests and types of play. During the free play time, children have the right to choose where to play, who to play with, and how to play. Children would express their play experience at the debriefing session which can facilitate children’s learning and development through play.

Art

Children have enough art time every day to use various art materials for painting, handicraft, and art appreciation. Teachers will also incorporate fine motor skills activities into painting and handicrafts to help children increase the strength and flexibility of fine motor muscles. Arts and creativity activities can help children to express their feelings and ideas through arts, and nurture their aesthetic sense.

Reading

Our children can be exposed to an authentic and language-rich environment with various types of language materials, including whole-language books, story books, posters, letters, flash cards, dictionary, etc. Language education for children start with nurturing an interest in independent reading, paired reading and parent-child reading.

Biliteracy and Trilingualism

Singing, conversation and story-telling activities by native English speaker teacher and Putonghua teacher, who holds the certificate of Putonghua Proficiency Test Grade Two Level B.

Orff Music

Our teachers have finished the training provided by Mei-Yu Orff Kids Music & Dancing Int’l. institute in 2008 and 2009, and the “Music Stories for Children” Orff Courses in 2017 and 2018, to improve their knowledge and skills. With these training and the practical experiences, the teachers are skilled at arranging the music courses that contain various activities, in which the children can feel the beauty of music and coordinate their body with music while learning about the music theory elements such as scores, beats, rhythm, and roll-call.

Dancing & Physique

  • Dancing and stretching activities by professional dancing teacher. (Once per week for K2 and K3)
  • Play physical games in the outdoor playground to feel the sunshine and enhance physical fitness and health. (For K2 and K3)

Catering For Learner Diversity

Different tutoring and teaching models such as "individual tutoring", "group training", "classroom support" and "daily life application" are used to support the individual differences of children. Work with speech therapists, physical therapists, occupational therapists and clinical psychologists to help children improve their cognitive and language development, physical development, affective and social development.

Support to Non-Chinese speaking (NCS) children

Teacher would use different methods, complementing them with theme-based learning or learning through play to increase the motivation for NCS children to learn Chinese and the opportunities for its use.

School make use of our space to exhibit materials with rich Chinese elements, so that NCS children can immerse themselves in a rich Chinese learning environment.

Our school provides translations of school announcements and notices to NCS parents so as to facilitate their understanding.
